What is Ubatuba? Ubatuba is a green Charnockite from Brazil. In natural stone trade, Ubatuba is often simply called a Granite. Ubatuba granite counter tops are very popular in Jacksonville.

Charnockite is high-grade metamorphic rocks that straddle the boundary between igneous & metamorphic. They are dark-colored, very coarsely-crystalline, quartzo-feldspathic with pyroxene, and are very high-grade metamorphic rocks. The feldspar component of charnockite characteristically "glimmers" when tilted in the light.  We have many Ubatuba colors from Brazil including black Ubatuba, black Ubatuba granite, Ubatuba gold, and Ubatuba green.

The pedestal of the world-famous Cristo Statue in Rio de Janeiro was made out of this material. Since then, the original quarry vanished, but many other green charnockites are called Ubatuba including Emerald Green Granite,Verde Bahia, and Verde Ubatuba Gold.
